Week 1
Saturday, August 30th, 2025:
Syracuse Vs Tennessee
Vegas: Tennessee -13.5
College Football Game Picker: Tennessee by 18.74
Tennessee returns a strong defense that will make things very difficult for the Syracuse Orange (2 starters return on offense) to move the ball. Syracuse will try to move the ball through the air against the 16th ranked defensive backs of Tennessee. Tennessee lost its starting QB but will have senior transfer Joey Aguilar who threw for 6700 yards and and 56 touchdowns at Appalachian St. The main difference in this game will be Tennessee’s powerful offensive and defensive lines pushing around the very average Syracuse lines. Look for 13th ranked Tennessee to dominate the line of scrimmage and cover the spread in this one against 52nd ranked Syracuse. The under on this game looks like a great pick as well.
Saturday, August 30th, 2025:
Mississippi St. Vs Southern Miss
Vegas: Mississippi St. -11.5
College Football Game Picker: Mississippi St. by 19.00
This is a big game kicking off the season with an in-state rivalry game between two teams that should be much improved. Mississippi St. returns 16 starters and should be improved from last years 2-10 team that had to play in the powerful SEC conference. Southern Miss lost 80 players from its 2024 team but will have a fair amount of players from Marshall’s team last year that came over with new head coach Charles Huff. Mississippi St. is deep at running back and should be able to move the ball on the ground against a very average Southern Miss defense. Look for 64th ranked Mississippi St. to cover this one against the 121st ranked Southern Miss.
Saturday, August 30th, 2025:
LSU Vs Clemson
Vegas: Clemson -4
College Football Game Picker: Clemson by 8.71
This is one of the biggest matchups of the Week 1. There will be lots riding on this for both teams. Clemson is absolutely loaded at pretty much every position. LSU is loaded at the skill positions on offense but will have to replace all of its offensive lineman except their center. The LSU offensive line will need time to find its identity which will not be a good thing against the 2nd ranked defensive line and 8th ranked linebackers of Clemson. Clemson should be able to put up some points on LSU through the air and will have some talented newcomers at RB behind the 2nd ranked offensive line. Look for this to be a low scoring game where Clemson will cover the spread at home giving LSU its 6th straight opening game loss.
Saturday, August 30th, 2025:
Utah Vs UCLA
Vegas: Utah -5.5
College Football Game Picker: Utah by 13.7.
Utah should be able to dominate the offensive line of scrimmage with its 7th ranked offensive line going against the 48th ranked defensive line of UCLA. On the other side of the ball UCLA will have a very average offensive line going against the 31st ranked defensive line and 12th ranked linebackers of Utah. Utah’s QB Devon Dampier was the nation’s top rushing QB not from a service academy last year at New Mexico. Look for Utah to use its ground game to put up enough points to cover the spread in this one while shutting down the UCLA offense.
Friday, August 29th, 2025:
Georgia Tech Vs Colorado
Vegas: Georgia Tech -3.5
College Football Game Picker: Georgia Tech by 10.32
This is a match with a Georgia Tech team (ruined Florida State’s season in Dublin last year) that returns their key offensive players in QB Haynes King and RB Jamal Haynes. Colorado lost its best players and will try to compete with inexperienced players on offense. Ga Tech should be able to move the ball at will on Colorado with its 6th ranked QB, 13th ranked RBs, and 17th ranked receivers. Colorado will have an inexperienced offense going against a Ga Tech defense that returned 7 starters. Look for Georgia Tech to use its mismatch on offense to cover the spread in this one against Colorado.
Thursday, August 28th, 2025:
Boise St. Vs S. Florida
Vegas: Boise St. -6
College Football Game Picker: Boise St. by 20.48
Boise St. will try to return to the playoffs without Heisman runner up Ashton Jeanty. Malik Sherrod a transfer from Fresno St will be the replacement and was reported to have had a stellar spring. Boise St. should have a big advantage on offense with the 11th ranked offensive line, 30 ranked receivers, and 24th ranked QB. South Florida will have a somewhat average although experienced defense. South Florida will struggle to move the ball against a Broncos defense that led the nation in sacks last year. Look for 35th ranked Boise St. to cover the spread against 68th ranked South Florida.
