2020 College Football Week 1 Premium Picks Against the Spread

The Premium Picks are put out early each week. You want to go ahead and get your locks in before the lines start moving.

Premium Picks are made public once the games are played.

Week 1

( Saturday, September 5th ) – Arkansas St Vs Memphis

( Vegas Memphis -16 )   ( Game Picker  Memphis by 27.93 )

Arkansas St will return an experienced offense with 9 returning starters which is important with not having spring practices. Unfortunately for the Red Wolves, Memphis will return 14 of its top 17 tacklers on defense with a great new defensive coordinator hire in Mike MacIntrye (held Memphis to a season low of 15 points as the Ole Miss DC last year). Memphis will return the majority of its skilled players on offense including senior QB Brady White. 1459 yard RB Kenneth Gainwell is out for the season for personal reasons (Memphis is still loaded and experienced at the TB and RB positions even without Gainwell). Memphis will once again be very difficult to stop on offense. Arkansas St will only return 2 of their top 9 tacklers from last year’s defense. Look for Memphis to cover the spread at home in the season opener.

( Saturday, September 5th ) – SMU Vs Texas St

( Vegas SMU -17 )   ( Game Picker  SMU by 25.45 )

This will be the 51st ranked team of SMU playing against the 124th ranked team of Texas St. Third year SMU coach Sonny Dykes has SMU playing some of the best football they have played in quite a while after going 10-3 last year. All the key players are back from last year on the SMU offense with the exception of the running back position. SMU should be able to pass at will on the Texas St defense that only returns 4 starters. SMU should be solid on defense this year returning 6 starters including a rock solid line backing unit. Look for SMU to cover the spread in this one against the much weaker Texas St team. Update: Texas St will be without its top two QBs. QB Brady McBride is out for the season because of eligibility issues. Backup QB Tyler Vitt is out because of Covid-10 Quarentine.
