Week 1

Thursday, September 1st, 2022:

W. Virginia Vs Pittsburgh

Vegas: Pittsburgh -6.5

College Football Game Picker: Pittsburgh by 16.95

The Backyard Brawl returns with West Virginia taking on Pittsburgh in Week 0. Both teams will be starting solid transfer QBs. Vegas is cheating the line based on the fact that there will be two fresh QBs starting in a new system. Pittsburgh is the much more experienced team with 8 starters returning on offense and 7 starters returning on defense. The Pittsburgh offense behind USC transfer QB Kedon Slovis should be able to take advantage of the very average linebackers and defensive backs of West Virginia. West Virgina will struggle to move the ball against the 2nd ranked defensive line and 24th ranked defensive backs of Pittsburgh. Look for Pittsburgh to cover the spread at home in the renewal of the Backyard Brawl.

Friday, September 2nd, 2022:

W. Michigan Vs Michigan St.

Vegas: Michigan St. -19.5

College Football Game Picker: Michigan St. by 28.02

Michigan State’s defensive backfield was burned early and often last year. The defensive backs should be much improved this year and won’t be challenged by Western Michigan’s new QB. Michigan State’s 24th ranked defensive line and 7th ranked linebackers will be able to stack the box and bully the talented RBs of Western Michigan. On offense Michigan State will be able to move the ball through the air behind returning stars QB Payton Thorne and WR Jayden Reed. Michigan State will also be able to move the ball on the ground as well with the 24th ranked running backs against a very average Western Michigan run defense. Look for Michigan State to cover the spread in this one.

Saturday, September 3rd, 2022:

Colorado St. Vs Michigan

Vegas: Michigan -27

College Football Game Picker: Michigan by 44.08

Colorado State will be a team full of transfers that will be trying to gain chemistry on the fly. Michigan has very strong offensive and defensive line units and will be able to control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Colorado State will try to sling the ball all over the yard which simply won’t work against the 20th ranked defensive backs of Michigan. Michigan will pound the ball down Colorado State’s revamped defense throats. Michigan is more talented and deeper than the rebuilding Colorado State squad and should be able to name their score in this one. Look for Michigan to cover the spread in this warmup game.

Saturday, September 3rd, 2022:

NC State Vs East Carolina

Vegas: NC State -10

College Football Game Picker: NC State by 22.09

NC State’s defense will be the star of this game going against a very inexperienced offensive line of East Carolina. NC State’s 2nd ranked linebackers and 3rd ranked defensive backs will be able to shut down any offense East Carolina tries to muster. Devin Leary and the Wolfpack offense will be able to open things up against the very average defensive backfield of East Carolina. East Carolina has been tough in the past at home. However, NC State will have way too much talent on the field in this one for East Carolina to handle. Look for NC State to cover the spread in this one pulling away in the second half.

Saturday, September 3rd, 2022:

North Carolina Vs Appalachian State

Vegas: North Carolina -2.5

College Football Game Picker: Appalachian State by 4.85

This will no doubt be a hard-fought game. North Carolina QB Drake Maye will try to fill the shoes of QB Sam Howell. UNCs Maye will find it tough going against the 35th ranked defensive backs of Appalachian State with the Boone, NC faithful screaming in his ears. The 7th ranked running backs and 29th ranked offensive line of Appalachian State will be able to pound the rock and control the tempo against an average linebacking squad of North Carolina. Look for Appalachian State to cover the spread in this one at home.

Saturday, September 3rd, 2022:

BYU Vs South Florida

Vegas: BYU -11.5

College Football Game Picker: BYU by 23.38

This is a matchup of two veteran teams that return 19 starters each. BYU will simply have too much talent on both sides of the ball for South Florida to be able to stay in this game. BYU will be able to move the ball at will through the air with its 11th ranked offensive line and 22nd ranked receivers going against a very average defensive backfield of South Florida. South Florida will struggle to get anything going on offense going against the 12th ranked linebackers and 27th ranked defensive backs of BYU. BYU will be looking to make a statement in each game this year in hopes of making the college football playoffs. Look for BYU to cover the spread in this one.

Monday, September 05, 2022:

Clemson Vs Georgia Tech

Vegas: Clemson -21

College Football Game Picker: Clemson by 35.44

Clemson needed a goal-line stand to escape with a 14-8 victory over the Yellow Jackets at home last year. This year will be more like the 2019 game when Clemson won 73-7. You can guarantee that Dabo spent the entire off season fixing the offense that plagued Clemson last year. Georgia Tech lost its all everything RB in Jahmyr Gibbs who transferred to Alabama in the offseason. Georgia Tech will struggle to move the ball against the 1st ranked defensive line, 9th ranked linebackers, and 9th ranked defensive backs of Clemson. Clemson struggled last year due to very lackluster play at QB. Clemson can open things up with its 11th ranked running backs and 22nd ranked offensive line in this game. This will give the Clemson QB DJ UIAGALELEI time to make some plays against a very average Georgia Tech defense. Look for Clemson to cover the spread in this one.
