Week 3

(Saturday, September 19th ) – S. Florida Vs Notre Dame – (Notre Dame 52-0) Winner!

(Vegas  Notre Dame  -24 )      (Game Picker Notre Dame by 29.57 )

Notre Dame worked out the kinks last week in the home opener against a talented Duke team. S. Florida will be playing its first game with a brand new coaching staff. The experienced Notre Dame team should have much more experience and talent than South Florida can handle. Look for Notre dame to roll in this one.

(Saturday, September 19th ) – C. Florida Vs Georgia Tech – (C. Florida 49-21) Winner!

(Vegas  C. Florida -7.5 )      (Game Picker C. Florida by 20.41 )

Georgia Tech upset Florida St last week by exposing an inexperienced offensive line. Georgia Tech was able to get its passing game going against Florida St putting up 277 yards thru the air. Central Florida will bring in an experienced offensive team with 8 starters back including the 3rd ranked offensive line unit in the country. Central Florida will return QB Dillion Gabriel who passed for over 3600 yards last year along with a talented cast of receivers. Central Florida also returns 8 on defense (including the 4 ranked defensive backs unit in the country) and should be a favorite to win the ACC and grab the New Year’s 6 Bowl Bid as the top Group of 5 team. Look for Central Florida to cover the spread in this one.

(Saturday, September 19th ) – Troy Vs Middle Tennessee – (Troy 47-14) Winner!

(Vegas  Troy -3 )      (Game Picker Troy  by 8.50 )

Troy was able to get in 6 spring practices unlike most teams. Middle Tennessee got blasted by Army in the first week of the season and obviously did not tackle any in the offseason. Troy will be one of the more improved teams in the Sun Belt Conference. Troy will return its top five running backs from last year (including 1186 yard rusher BJ Smith) and should be able to move the ball on the ground effectively against the Middle Tennessee team that gave up 340 yards rushing to Army in the first week of the season. Look for Troy to cover the spread in this one.

(Saturday, September 19th ) – SMU Vs N. Texas – (SMU 65-35) Winner!

(Vegas  SMU -13.5 )      (Game Picker SMU by 17.01 )

SMU was able to work out the kinks in an opening weekend win over Texas St. The offensive unit led by senior QB Shane Buechele was able to outscore the surprising Texas St offense by passing for 367 yards. Look for SMU coach Sonny Dykes to sew things up on defense against the much weaker North Texas offense. North Texas will also be breaking in a new defensive coordinator without any spring practices. Look for SMU to cover the spread in this one.

(Saturday, September 19th ) – Appalachian St Vs Marshall – (Marshall 17-7) Loss

(Vegas  Appalachian St -4 )      (Game Picker Appalachian St by 8.70 )

Teams with solid returning offensive lines have faired well in the first 2 weeks of the season. Teams with rebuilt offensive lines are getting upset, even with talented skill players. Appalachian St returns one of the most experienced offensive lines along with a talented QB in senior Zach Thomas. With the lack of spring practice, it is becoming more evident that the experienced teams have the advantage. Appalachian St went 13-1 last year and did not lose much on offense. Marshall played an FCS team and rolled in the first week, but will face a much more talented team in Appalachian St’s defense. Look for Appalachian St to cover the spread in this one.
