Bowls

(Tuesday, December 22nd ) –  Boca Raton Bowl (7 p.m., ESPN)  Winner!

C. Florida Vs BYU

(Vegas  BYU -6 )      (Game Picker BYU by 11.2 )

BYU QB Zach Wilson is one of the best QBs in the nation that not many people have seen play. The BYU QB will simply have a field day against the 120th ranked pass defense of C. Florida. C. Florida’s 2nd ranked pass offense will have to go against BYU’s 19th ranked pass defense. This game will come down to the fact that BYU has a defense and C. Florida does not. Look for BYU to cover the spread in this one in a motivated manner for being left out of the New Years Six conversation.

(Wednesday, December 23rd ) –  New Orleans Bowl (3 p.m., ESPN)  Winner!

Ga. Southern  Vs La Tech

(Vegas  Ga. Southern -6 )      (Game Picker Ga. Southern by 10.4 )

GA Southern will matchup well against La Tech as far as strengths and weaknesses. GA Southern will have a big mismatch with its 6th ranked rush offense versus the 97th ranked rush defense of La Tech. Meanwhile GA Southern will be able to stymie the La Tech offense will its better than average defense (18th rush defense and 53 pass offense). Look for GA Southern to control the tempo of this game with its dominating running game and cover the spread in this one.

(Thursday, December 31st ) –  Armed Forces Bowl (Noon, ESPN)

Tulsa  Vs Mississippi St.

(Vegas  Mississippi St.   -1 )      (Game Picker Tulsa   by 4.54 )

Tulsa played a close game against undefeated and underrated Cincinnati in the American Athletic Conference Championship last weekend losing by only 3 points.  There has been a pattern with Mississippi St this year in doing really well against teams with average pass defense and getting boat raced by teams with good pass defense. Tulsa is no joke on pass defense ranking 24th in the country. If Tulsa shuts down the passing game of the Bulldogs as other teams have done, Mississippi St. has no running game. Tulsa will be able to put up points on Mississippi St’s 95th ranked pass defense with its 51st ranked passing game. Look for Tulsa to cover the spread in this one.

(Thursday, December 31st ) –  Liberty Bowl (4 p.m., ESPN)  Winner!

W. Virginia Vs Army

(Vegas  W. Virginia  -9 )      (Game Picker W. Virginia by 7.66 )

Tennessee cancelled due to Covid-19 concerns and Army has been selected to take their spot in the Liberty Bowl. This will be an interesting game as both teams have dominate defenses. This looks to be a tight game just like Army’s two previous games. This will be the classic running team (Army) versus the passing team (W. Virginia). W. Virginia has not played a game since December 5th when they were blown out 42-6 by Iowa St. Meanwhile, Army comes in on a defensive role holding Navy scoreless and Air Force to 7 points in its last two games. Look for Army to cover the spread in this one.

(Thursday, December 31st ) –  Texas Bowl (8 p.m., ESPN)    Cancelled

Arkansas Vs TCU

(Vegas  TCU  -4.5 )      (Game Picker TCU by 10.53 )

This will be 26th ranked TCU going against 55th ranked Arkansas. Arkansas has struggled late on defense giving up 63 to Florida, 50 to Missouri, and 53 to Alabama in 3 of its last four games. TCU has been on a roll winning its last three games including a win over ranked Oklahoma St. TCU will have a big mismatch with its 21st ranked rush offense versus the 93rd ranked rush defense of Arkansas. Arkansas will struggle against TCU’s balanced defense. Look for TCU to cover the spread in this one.

(Saturday , January 2nd ) –  Fiesta Bowl (4 p.m., ESPN)  Winner!

Oregon Vs Iowa St.

(Vegas  Iowa St. -4 )      (Game Picker Iowa St. by 7.88 )

Iowa St has had one of its better seasons in a while playing the 11th ranked strength of schedule while only losing two tight games at Oklahoma and Oklahoma St. Oregon has played a shorter season and seemed to peak against overrated USC last weekend. Iowa St has a balanced offense and will be able to move the ball efficiently against Oregon. Iowa St will have a decent mismatch with its 42nd ranked pass offense versus the 88th ranked pass defense of Oregon. Oregon will be able to score some points but ultimately, Iowa St will cover the spread in this one.
