Friday ( September 15th) – Arizona Vs UTEP

Arizona lost a close game to an emotionally charged Houston team last week. Arizona’s weakness has been their defense. UTEP is averaging only 198 yards per game on the against weak opponents. UTEP is giving up 43 points again and only scoring 10 points a game. UTEPs starting QB Ryan Metz will be out for this game due to a shoulder injury. Look for Arizona to cover the spread in this one.
Saturday ( September 16th) – Kent St Vs Marshall

Marshall has played a much more difficult schedule than Kent St and still has better stats in every category across the board. Marshall matches up very well against Kent St’s strengths and weaknesses. Kent St is a running team and will struggle against Marshall’s run defense that is the strength of their defense. Marshall has been strong in the passing game (37th) with 6-‘6″ QB Chase Litton leading the way. Kent ST ranks (107th) in pass defense and (126th) in rush defense. Look for Marshall to cover the spread in this one.
Baylor Vs Duke

This is an interesting game with one of the biggest surprises and biggest disappointments so far in this young season. Vegas seems to have not caught up with the trend yet. Duke is averaging +22 against the spread. Baylor is averaging -28 against the spread. Duke has a very talented and balanced team. Duke has a major mismatch with its (25th) ranked rushing attack vs Baylor’s (106th) ranked rush defense. Baylor has struggle mightily against a much weaker schedule than Duke. Baylor has been a predominately run based team this year which won’t fair well against Duke’s (7th) ranked rush defense. Baylor’s starting QB Anu Solomon is doubtful to play this week. Look for Duke to cover the spread and this one. Vegas won’t have too many more give away lines like this before they dial in.
Utah St Vs Wake Forest

This is another game where there is a mismatch. Wake Forest will have the (51st) ranked running offense versus Utah State’s (112th) ranked rush defense. Wake Forest has also been +13 against the spread. Utah State has been -10 against the spread. On defense, Wake Forest is only allowing 8.5 points per game Wake Forest dominated a pretty solid Boston College team last week. Wake Forest should be able to score plenty of points to cover this spread.
