Hard to believe that the college football season starts in about 8 weeks. Each year, every team starts with the same amount of wins and losses. With that in mind, there is much anticipation and excitement as practices start and expectations are discussed around the water coolers nation wide. In some folks eyes, the college football playoff has caused the game to become a bit stale as the same 4 to 6 teams seem to be in playoffs every year. There is talk of an expansion to 8 or 16 team playoff which would give each power conference a dog in the fight. But until then we will probably see more of the same stacked teams in the playoff.
The thing that has changed the most in the past year has been the legalization of Sports Books at the state level. New Jersey just had a greater month of money wagered than Vegas for the first time in history and it’s not even football season! Casino’s are opening Sports Books nationwide. This is a game gamer for the serious and casual sports fans nationwide. Laying a bit of legal money on a game makes it so much more fun to watch!
The College Football Game Picker starts it’s 5th season as the 2019 season kicks off in a few weeks. The game picker premium picks finished in the top 2% of handicapper’s in the industry against the spread for the 2018 season. Each year tweaks are made to the algorithm to continually improve the game picker based on previous results. 2019 should be the best year ever for the College Football Game Picker. To get the ball rolling for the upcoming season, we wanted to go ahead and post some way too early picks as Vegas lines are already out for week one and there are some values to be had before the lines start moving. We’ll post a few way too early picks between now and the start of the season to get things rolling. Here’s a look the Miami, FL vs Florida game the first game on the Vegas slate.
Florida should be a preseason Top 10 team and SEC East contender. Florida QB Feleipe Franks will be in his 2nd year under head coach Dan Mullen and should be vastly improved. Florida returns 8 starters on defense and should be solid stopping it’s opponents against the run and thru the air. The only weakness may be the offensive line. Miami will be breaking in a new coaching staff and quarterback which always takes a few weeks to work out the kinks. The Miami defense will be strong against the run but will be somewhat vulnerable against the pass early on as some talented young guys gain experience. Look for Florida to expose the Hurricanes thru the air and play shutdown defense. The Gators will cover the spread in this one.
2019 kickoff can’t get here soon enough. Looking forward to another great season!
